Legoland

Legoland Billund:

As you can see in the blog, we visited Legoland in Billund. It is a theme park about the Lego this is the first park built with this theme, after this one 6 others parks have been developed in the world.

You can find in these places: Legoland Billund, in Denmark, built in 1968. It is located near to the corporate headquarters of Lego. Legoland California, Legoland Deutschland, Legoland Florida, Legoland Malaysia, Legoland Windsor.

LEGO group is a Danish company producing games that range from the most famous, Lego products, is based on bricks to assemble. In 2013, Lego becomes the 2nd largest manufacturer of toys. Ole Kirk Christiansen was the founder of the Lego Company.

LEGOLAND Billund is visited by 1.9 million people in 2011, compared to Disneyland Resort Paris who was visited by 15 million people in 2009 this is a small park.

This company work for the tourism industry, this is a showcase for the company Lego. The Danish group has increased its revenues by 25% in 2012 (3.1 billion Euros of turnover) and tripled its sales within five years.

The company has recently opened a new headquarters in Singapore. Not long ago the company had financial problems, because the different amusement parks are losing money. It is expensive to build the different park. Now the company is better.

Economy:

The price of tickets is 279Dkr (37€) for the adults, and 249Dkr for the children aged 3 to 12 years.

The economy of the park is essentially based on the sale of ticket and with the sale of souvenir.

In this park like in all the other amusement park you can find restaurants, this is another revenue source for LEGOLAND. In these restaurants it was expensive, Baptiste and Jules can confirm.

There is a hotel inside the park with the same theme, the price for a 2 day ticket is 408Dkr. There are different Themed rooms like:

• ADVENTURE & TREASURE
• KNIGHTS’ & PRINCESS
• PIRATE

Jobs

I haven’t found the numbers of employees in LEGOLAND but the Lego group employs 7500 people. In LEGOLAND Billund you can find different jobs like: Operators of attraction, Clerk, Agent home, Cashiers, Service Agent, Show host, Seller shop, Cook

In an amusement park the working conditions are hard because everything must be perfect and employees have an additional pressure because the group was in financial difficulty. In 2003, 500 employees were dismissed.
